Ambassador Program

About the Lobo Club Ambassadors:

Just because you are not a current Lobo student-athlete does not mean that you cannot help produce victories for the UNM Athletics department.

Lobo Club Ambassadors are a group of passionate Lobo fans dedicated to raising money for UNM student-athlete scholarships. There are countless components to this incredible group including networking and competition, along with camaraderie, pride, building friendships and having fun!

You do not have to be a professional fund raiser; all we ask is that you want to see UNM Athletics excel nationally and are willing to engage friends, family members, and colleagues to be active in our climb to the top of the MWC. In the end, you will have the opportunity to be a part of priceless experiences, and will build strong connections with Lobo athletics, its staff, coaches and student-athletes.

Sports have a way of positively influencing society, which can increase the well-being for everyone involved including the student-athletes, fans and the community. Be a part of a group where you will inspire others and will help in continuing to Provide Opportunities for Excellence in UNM Athletics and in your community.

Membership Benefits

What a fantastic time to be a Lobo! Consider these remarkable accomplishments from the past year:

  • The Mountain West Conference honored 47 UNM student-athletes on the fall 2008 Academic All-Mountain West Conference Team.  The Lobos recorded the third most honorees among the nine MWC members and set a new school record for a combined athletic GPA of 3.14.
  • 9 Lobo student-athletes were honored as conference player of the year in 2008-09 in their respective sport.
  • Men's Basketball advanced to the post-season, reaching the second round of the NIT after claiming a share of the regular season conference title, and head coach Steve Alford was named the Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year.
  • Women's Basketball advanced to the second round of the Women's NIT and head coach Don Flanagan reached his 300th win when the Lobos beat Air Force 79-33 on February 16, 2009.
  • Football welcomed new head coach Mike Locksley from the University of Illinois, after former Lobo Football coach Rocky Long (1997-2008) became the defensive coordinator at SDSU.
  • Women's Cross Country claimed its first conference title and head coach Joe Franklin was named MWC Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year.
  • Lobo Baseball was nationally ranked for the first time since 1985.  The Lobos were ranked 21st in Baseball America's Top 25, 20th in Collegiate Baseball's Top 30, and 30th in PING! Baseball's Top 30.
  • A couple of swift Lobo seniors grabbed attention at the NCAA Track and Field Championships.  Lee Emanuel took the national title in the men's mile, Jarrin Solomon took 5th in the 400 meters, and the men's team finished 16th overall, the first top-20 finish in 25 years.
  • Congratulations to the Lobo Ski Team for their third place finish at the NCAA Skiing Championships.  It's the team's third top-three finish in the past six years.
  • Congratulations to Lobo Women's Golf for winning its second consecutive conference championship and advancing to the NCAA Championships.
  • Congratulations to Lobo Men's Golf who took home the National Invitational Tournament trophy in March 2009 after a 14-under 850 final score.
  • Women's Tennis head coach Kathy Kolankiewicz reached her 350th win when the Lobos beat UT-Arlington at the Barnes Collegiate Invite in San Diego, CA.  Coach K is retiring after this season after 24 years at UNM.
  • Men's Soccer won its 6th straight NSCAA Team Academic Award with a combined 3.25 GPA.
  • Swimming standouts Marissa Campbell, Sasha Evangulova and Aubrey Bush were named to the All-Mountain West Conference Team after impressive performances throughout the season.

All that and more was made possible through of the support of members of The Team Behind the Teams, the Lobo Club. Support by Lobo Club members enables student-athletes to pursue lifelong dreams of participating in intercollegiate athletics and earning a quality education at the University of New Mexico, an opportunity that is not lost with the more than 300 UNM student-athletes who receive some level of scholarship assistance.

Benefits of the Lobo Club include priority parking for men's and women's basketball and football, receipt of the quarterly Inside the Pack Newsletter and eligibility for the Member of the Month prize drawings, priority seating for men's and women's basketball and football and many, many more. The greatest benefit of all? Knowing your support directly impacts the lives of deserving UNM student-athletes.
